About Us

The Population & Development Program (PopDev) is a progressive think tank and advocacy organization housed on the campus of Hampshire College. Each spring, we organize a cross-issue activist conference called From Abortion Rights to Social Justice: Building the Movement for Reproductive Freedom with our sister program, the Civil Liberties & Public Policy program.

PopDev works with students, policymakers, and journalists to change divisive conventional wisdom and policies about population growth that threaten reproductive freedom, social justice, and our environment.
 

We work in solidarity with grassroots environmental and reproductive justice organizers by facilitating intersectional spaces for movement-building, developing resources and publications that amplify alternative analyses, and offering educational tools to meet the needs they identify.
